In FDM 3D printing, nozzle clogging is one of the most frustrating issues. However, there are very few PLA filaments that can ensure long-term, clog-free printing while also providing smooth flow and high-quality surface finishes. NextShapes’ Standard PLA has managed to achieve exactly that.

 

Not long ago, we received an inquiry from Mr. Xiang: “Does your Standard PLA filament clog the hot end often?” Mr. Xiang explained that he had previously used a certain brand of PLA filament for 3D printing, but after only two rolls, the hot end started clogging. At first, he thought it might be an issue with the printer's temperature settings and tried adjusting the nozzle temperature several times, but the clogging persisted. We explained to Mr. Xiang that if nozzle clogging is due to the filament itself, it's typically caused by impurities and poor thermal melt properties. These impurities tend to accumulate at the nozzle tip, restricting the flow of material and negatively affecting 3D print quality. Mr. Xiang admitted that he had previously chosen cheaper filaments without carefully considering the raw material and manufacturing process. As a result, he had wasted a lot of time and resources, and several batches of small parts were delayed in delivery.
